South Africa made a good show at the inaugural Drinks Business Green Awards 2010 in London this week. The Drinks Business website tells us that the awards “aim to raise awareness of green issues in the drinks trade and recognise and reward those who are leading the way in sustainability and environmental performance” and South Africa did very well indeed.
- Backsberg Estate won the Sustainability Award
- Inge Kotzé from the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative took the Green Personality of the Year Award
- Elgin-based winemaker Paul Cluver won the The Lifetime Achievement Award
- Paul Cluver Wines and Stellar Organics were short-listed in the Ethical Award category
